Welcome!

Run.

Rinse.

Repeat.

We are a group of like minded individuals who love the sport of running. We pooled our energies and resources together to form a group, one that is dedicated to supporting each member and his/her running goals and ambitions. From 5Ks to Ultras, from 5 minute miles to "I just want to finish," everyone is welcome to participate and everyone matters.

Come join us for a group run or monthly celebration. Share your experiences and ideas with creative, ambitious runners from around the area. Be a part of something bigger than an event - something that lets you know I am here! I am alive! I AM A RUNNER!

West Orange Runners' Club welcomes you.

Our site now has a VIRTUAL Peak Performance Lab: How to reach your Peak Performance, which contains the following:

- Marathon, Half marathon & 5K training schedules. Most of us know this, but it is nice to have a reminder. This section contains 3 detailed programs designed by a elite marathoner friend of mine. He ran a 2:21 marathon and ran New Jersey (not the marathon, he actually ran across the state of NJ).

- Strength Training Programs. There are countless programs for building strength, muscle, losing fat etc. Many are complicated, contradictory and confusing.

In this section, we will cover the simpliest, safest and most effective training programs known. Designed by both an Russian Elite Forces member and an MIT scientist, we will cover programs for all levels and time schedules.

- Stretching Programs. Old fashion static stretching causes injuries (increased injury rate of 11-17%) and reduces strength (on average of 19%, according to recent studies). Shutdown Threshold Isometric Stretch (its much easier to do than to pronounce) on the other hand, is simple to do and both reduces risk of injury while improving flexibility. Cutting edge information here.

- Core / Ab Training. Fantastic information was kindly passed along to me in this section as well from one of the most innovative trainers in the country. Having worked with pro athletes for 2 decades, this section will cover specific abdominal training and core workouts to improve strength involving the region from the lower ribs to mid thighs. Challenging exercises and many to choose from.

- Nutrition Section. In this section, we will cover what to eat the week prior to an event or long, hard workout, a day before, few hours before, 30 minutes prior, immediately after, and a few hours later. In addition, some of the commonly held notions such as "fiber is healthy" and "there is a huge difference between bad and good carbs" will be discussed. Again, my doctor friend from MIT was interviewed and this information is simply outstanding.

- Mental Training. You have the "below the neck" stuff figured out. This section will cover how to handle nervousness, how to mentally prepare for peak performance (PRs) and much more. Stop being "realistic" and start reaching and grabbing on to the stars.

We are very exciting about passing this information along to everyone. It is the culmination of a lot of work, interviews, phone calls, emails etc., Mainly, it was a lot of kind people who are also brilliant in their field, who were willing to share time and details. We thank you all.
